AMORE CRAFTS: handmade upcycled stuff with love

Amore crafts

Each upcycled handmade piece has a sweet, short story to tell. Scroll down and check out each lovingly-made product.

I made a scarf pouch to protect my scarves
inside my bag. Most of the scarves are given
to me by friends and my mom.
Special pieces need to be preserved :)

From my brother's necktie used in his First Holy Communion...
... To my favourite headband!

Necktie pouch
This is made from one of my husband's old neckties.
The pouch has three pockets which can fit an Iphone (4s-5s),
a pen, a rectangular notepad, or your rouge.

The brooch is made from the same necktie which was used for the pouch. Nothing goes to waste!

My first make-up art: Instead of discarding my unused make-up,
I drew pretty figures using them. Inspired by the baby in my womb,
I drew this version of myself surrendering to nature and opening up myself
to this beautiful pregnancy journey.

I have also made a crochet flower pattern paperclip
for the author and illustrator of "The Yellow Paper Clip
with Bright Purple Spots." Just like the Yellow Paper Clip

with Bright Purple Spots, my flower paper clip made its way to
Pittsburgh to meet Nikki Dy-Liacco, the author, and California, to meet May-Ann Licudine, the illustrator.

My cold porcelain coasters are in the good hands of my aunt. It's
an honour to my family to have shared these works of art.

How have you celebrated Christmas?

Christmas can be celebrated in various meaningful ways

Helping relatives pull-off their Christmas program for kids in their neighborhood.

Singing Christmas carols in a choir.

I used to be an OFW, so I spent one Christmas with my co-OFW.

Church visitation to check out different Nativity designs (belen)
Immaculate Conception Church, Tagbilaran, Bohol

Baclayon Church, Baclayon, Bohol

Partake in the Noche Buena with members of the Sacristy. When we visited Bohol for Christmas, the owner of the hotel where we stayed invited us to spend Midnight Dinner with the parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Church in Dauis, Bohol. It was a simple but very meaningful dinner- we had warm bread, kumquats, rice cakes and hot cocoa.

On leadership: essay submitted for a training in Japan

  • As a young leader, what can I do to help my country?”
A leader is one who leads by example, and generally, a leader has some, if not all of
the traits of leadership. In my opinion, leaders are not born, they are made. While it is useful to
have inherent traits of leadership in a person’s genes, it is definitely not the only condition to
    become a good leader.
Leaders who have made their mark have almost always displayed a common set of
characteristics : perseverance, ability, courage, persistence, and indefatigability. These are
persons who can rise up to moments of extreme and unusual trial and adversity, and rally their
followers to join in their cause. They are made of such hard stuff that almost nothing seems to
break their indomitable spirit. They have been looked up to make the most difficult decisions for
the most case-sensitive matters, and extraordinary problems.
I know that I am a leader because I possess some desirable qualities of leadership. I
have exercised my leadership qualities in school, work and the community. In my years of study
and work experience, I have gained a strong faith in my religious belief, became more
committed to serve the poor in our country, and resolved to train and educate children. I will use
my master’s degree in special education to assist “autistic” children become useful members of
society. I also want to help other special children with disabilities perform normal tasks which an
ordinary and normal child can do.
I also want to be in the forefront of the fight against child trafficking, and child slavery,
through enhanced public awareness, victim assistance programs, and law enforcement training
and initiatives. The battle against human trafficking is a shared responsibility involving all
countries, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, and communities around the world. I
want to organize fund-raising and awareness campaigns to bring the children of poor families,
who cannot afford education, back to schools. Since my family is actively involved in non-
profits, I will introduce a mission in the organization to make the welfare of children a priority
undertaking to introduce them to life-coaching skills to develop their mental, physical, and
    spiritual well-being.
Furthermore, I would like to teach English as a second language to non-native speakers.
I have gained so much training and experience as an instructor of TESOL (Teaching English to
Speakers of Other Languages). My goal is to enhance tourism in the country.
I would like to open up a school to teach English, and to create programs specifically
tailored for adventurous students who are active learners... and are looking for a unique travel
experience in the Philippines, so that they could meet new people, immerse themselves in a
new culture, and make a difference in their lives.
My belief is that teaching is one of the best contributions I can make to my country. The
Philippines is still suffering from the terrible aftermath of the previous corrupt government,
especially in the area of education. As a leader, I want to offer my knowledge and experience as
  • a teacher for the development of my country. I will offer my profession in the service of those
most in need, and those whom I wish to lead.
